Word-Art is super trendy right now. I've always loved words, it's a love I share with my daughter. I guess we're geeks like that but I'll take any chance to make art with words.
This is a super easy craft, no special talent needed. With a few simple materials that you probably have laying around your home you'll spice up your bathroom with something fun and trendy.
About a week ago I found this amazing deal on Craiglist where I got over 30 frames for $5.00. They where disgustingly dirty and rained on so I had my work cut out for me. I threw away a few but still have over 20 frames to play with.

I rarely come up with completely original ideas (sorry to let you down). What usually happens is, I see something I like and can't afford, so I console myself thinking "I can totally make that". And I do.
The inspiration:
They where $9.99 each. Even if you have $20.00 to spend, isn't FREE always better?
My decorating theme is modern but cozy and these where neither so I made some changes to fit my stile (white frames and hand written font).
Materials:
- Old frames (I used 8 x 10)- Spray paint
- Word or Photoshop
- Printer
- Printer Paper
Steps:
- Spray paint the old frames your desired color. If you're going to use color on the inside I would keep it neutral like black, white or tan maybe even gold or silver. If you are going black and white with the font I would go all out with the brighter color in your color scheme. But this is a do whatever you want DIY so, do what ever you want.
- While your frames are drying get on the computer to create your Word-Art. Open Microsoft Word or Photoshop depending of what you are comfortable with. You can also use something like Google Docs if you don't have neither. It's online and free. Open a new blank document.
- If you want a cool or special font you can download it from DaFont. I always browse the Top 100 fonts to see what I like. Once you have downloaded the fonts right click the file (.ttf or .otf) and click install. Now the font should appear in your fonts drop down menu for you to pick. You might have to close and re-open Word to see the font.
- This is where your imagination can go crazy. I used a rectangle as a background but you can leave it white. You can also add clipart. Clipart is a great way to tie the frames with your bathroom theme (in my case the paddles). Here are some more ideas you can get inspired by:
- Measure the inside of your frames and make sure your art is equal or smaller. I made mine about 8" x 6 " to make sure I got a white border.
- Print your work of art. Measure again to make sure it looks good and centered. With something pointy fold the paper into place. You can cut the excess but I just folded inward. Install the back board of the frame and tadaa you are all done.
Call yourself an artist and brag when someone tells your the frames are cute.
I hope you enjoyed this Tutorial. If you liked it check back soon I have lots of old frames and even more ideas.
